About These Events

Join Stiv Wilson and the team from 5 Gyres for a photographic journey to the world's oceanic garbage patches. Halfway through a 1400-mile bike tour of the East Coast, 5 Gyres is speaking out to raise awareness of the North Atlantic garbage patch and inspire action locally to fight this global problem. 5 Gyres sails to the most remote regions of our oceans to research plastic density in areas where no one has before, and takes the evidence of home to engage with government, industry and concerned citizens to drive common sense solutions to plastic pollution through policy, education and sustainable business.

Julie Lawson of Anacostia Watershed Society and Trash Free Maryland, as well as representatives from the National Aquarium, will also be on hand to discuss the impacts of plastic pollution on local waters and marine animals.
