Current AWS Volunteer Programs
Spring/Summer 2008

Check out our online calendar for volunteer event dates and time. Does your group or organization want to organize a volunteer outing with AWS? Call us at 301-699-6204 or send an e-mail message to info@anacostiaws.org with the details. We can plan an event that matches your schedule!

Community service hours are available through all of our events! Click here for more information.

Water Angels (Tree Watering)

During hot, dry spells this summer, AWS Horticulturist Steve McKindley-Ward needs local folks to help him carry buckets of water from local streams to quench the thirst of the many young, native trees we planted in the watershed last fall. Help our leafy companions survive the heat! Call 301-699-6204 or e-mail Steve to become an AWS Water Angel today.

Invasive Plant Removals

Join AWS Conservation Biologist Dr. Marc Imlay for invasive non-native plant removals at Greenbelt Park, Little Paint Branch Park, Magruder Park, and other public spaces throughout the watershed. To participate, call 301-699-6204, or send an e-mail to Marc Imlay or Michael Breen.

Trash Cleanups

Join AWS staff member Kamweti Mutu for several trash cleanup events around the watershed this spring and summer. Call 301-699-6404 or e-mail Kamo to join.

Tree Planting

AWS's tree planting program will resume in Fall 2008. Call 301-699-6204 or send an e-mail Steve Mckindley-Ward for more information.
