The Anacostia Watershed Society is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) environmental organization. The mission of the Anacostia Watershed Society (AWS) is to restore and protect the Anacostia River and its watershed by cleaning the water, recovering the shores, and honoring the heritage. The watershed encompasses 176 square miles throughout eastern Montgomery County and northern Prince George’s County in Maryland, and the eastern half of Washington, D.C. Our ultimate goal is to make the Anacostia River swimmable and fishable in keeping with the Clean Water Act of 1972. Our work is conducted through a four-part program that involves environmental education, restoration, advocacy, and recreation.
Help protect our environment by working with the Anacostia Watershed Society. The Anacostia Watershed Society is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
