This site is close to one of headwaters of Sligo Creek. The water comes from stormwater pipe. Since piped streams make water flow faster, and the headwater area is developed heavily, huge amount of water comes into the creek at a time and erodes river bank when it rains.

The stream is separated by this spillway from stormwater control pond located above University Boulevard. Since the upstream portion separated by this facility is not large, the significance may not be serious. However, no fish can go upstream from here.
