Details: We know you love our weekly #WatershedWildlife series on facebook, and this month's Watershed Wednesday Happy Hour is your chance to learn how you can participate in a national event that celebrates the Anacostia Watershed's biodiversity!  The National Parks BioBlitz is a two-day event in May where volunteer scientists, naturalists, families, and students work together to discover, identify, learn from and celebrate the flora and fauna in National Parks in and around Washington, D.C.

Hear the details on how National Geographic and the National Park Service are planning to record biodiversity all over our National Parks using iNaturalist.org and what you can do to be a part of it all, either as a participant or a leader! National Parks BioBlitz - Washington, D.C., is just one part of the concurrent Biodiversity Festival on May 20-21, 2016.

Our special guest this month is Carrie Seltzer, program manager and science lead for BioBlitz at the National Geographic Society. She has a Ph.D. in ecology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Carrie lives in northeast DC and loves exploring biodiversity in the area. You can follow her on inaturalist.org to see the flora, fauna, and fungi she observes.

Also joining us is Jim Pieper, who is a Natural Resource Specialist and science lead for BioBlitz at the National Park Service. He was a member of the inaugural cohort of Roger Kennedy Fellows at George Washington University, earning a Graduate certificate in Contexts of Environmental Policy. Jim lives in Alexandria and has spent more than 10 years working in the streams of the National Capital Region.

Hosting us this month is Steel Plate located in Brookland just steps from it's eponymous metro station on the red line.  Come early to enjoy their happy hour specials before 7pm!  Thank you, Steel Plate!
