Hi!  Thanks so much for your interest!  Unfortunately we've had to cancel this event due to the rain and sleet that is predicted tomorrow morning.  We are hoping to reschedule mid-March, but in the meantime, please feel free to sign up for invasive removal events on the 6th and 15th.  Thanks!

Invasive Plant Removal

Date: Saturday, February 23, 2013
Time: 10:00 am-1:00 pm
Meeting Location: We will be meeting in the parking lot adjacent to the DeMatha football field. The closest street address is 2916 Nicholson St., Hyattsville, MD 20782. Please click here for a map of our meeting place.

Description: AWS is working to restore a section of streambank along the Northwest Branch of the Anacostia River! As part of this work, we will be removing invasive, non-native plants to make room for native trees that will be planted later in the spring by local elementary and middle school students. We need your help removing these invasives to give our trees a fighting chance!

Physical Requirements: This work will involve the use of pruners, clippers, and other basic landscaping tools. Lifting, kneeling, bending, and walking will be involved. This work is not appropriate for young children or those with health issues. If you think any of the physical requirements may be an issue for you, please let us know or choose to attend another event.
