Happy 2012 from your AWS educators!

AWS Rice Rangers ready to restore the wetlands!

Happy New Year!  While December and January represent the “slow” season at AWS with school vacations and the colder temperatures, the education department is keeping busy by networking with schools and filling up the schedule with river trips, class visits and restoration projects for the spring.  If you have been thinking about working with AWS in your school or after-school group, now is a great time to get in touch with us.  We are looking for students to help in wetland restoration through our Rice Rangers program and while our annual shad program is already fully-booked, we are always looking for interested members of the community to get involved.  If you are looking for some hands-on, experiential service-learning for a group of local students, give us a call.  If the 60-degree day today is any indicator, spring will be here before we know it, so let’s get you on our schedule soon to help to restore this river!  You can reach me at clemieux@anacostiaws.org.
