Stormwater

Stormwater is the polluted runoff that results when rain falls on impervious surfaces like roofs, roads, and parking lots; picks up trash, nutrients, and sediments as it flows off those surfaces; and flows down our storm drains, straight into the Anacostia River and its tributaries. This runoff is the leading contributor of the three other contaminants - trash, bacteria, and toxics - entering the river.  Take a further look into the advocacy stance on stormwater:
