Recreational Assistant
Tamia Edmonds

Tamia Edmonds is a writer, director, and producer from South Boston, VA, with a deep-rooted passion for storytelling that has served as a sanctuary for exploring her identity since childhood. She graduated from George Mason University in 2020 with a BFA in Film & Video Studies and is currently an MFA thesis candidate at Howard University, focusing on short-form narratives and anthologies.

In addition to her creative pursuits, Tamia has volunteered annually at Staunton River State Park, where she deepened her connection to nature and developed a greater appreciation for environmental conservation. Her pursuit of environmental restoration also led her to the Anacostia Watershed Society, where she now serves as a Recreational Assistant. This experience has fueled her current thesis film, which explores the intersection of personal healing and environmental wellness. As the culmination of her master's program at Howard University, this project reflects her ongoing commitment to using film as a medium for personal and collective reflection, bridging the gap between inner healing and the natural world.
