Master Naturalist Application Period - OPEN NOW
Are you interested in learning about the plants and animals that live in and around the Anacostia River?
Are you looking for ways to get involvedin local, hands-on work to improve the health of the Anacostia River?
Our Maryland Master Naturalist program is for you!
We're excited to be a host site for the Maryland Master Naturalist program for a second time this summer!
The 100-hour program consists of training in natural history topics - birds, reptiles, fish, trees, fungi, etc. led by experts in the field; as well as hands-on volunteer work at AWS in the year following the training.
This summer's program will take place on Saturdays, typically 8:30am - 4pm, from June 1st - August 10th (no sessions on July 6th), here at our office in Bladensburg.
We'll be taking field trips to spots along the river - Anacostia Park, Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, the National Arboretum - and there's time in the schedule for boating, paddling, and exploring!
