The thought of encountering such wildlife as snakes, spiders, bees, and wasps fills some folks with dread – but these critters play important roles in our watershed ecosystem. Come hear about the fascinating lifeways of these animals and why we should care about them. We’ll also bust myths about local mammal species such as bats, foxes, and coyotes, and learn how to help wildlife in our backyards.

The District of Columbia has some of the nation's most robust environmental programs to protect our parks, streams, and rivers in the Anacostia Watershed. While residents get to see the local results of such programs, they also benefit the wider Chesapeake Bay! Come and hear from District Department of Energy and Environment’s Katherine Antos, a longtime champion of the Anacostia River and Chesapeake Bay, about how the good work we're doing here is spreading to the region. Many thanks to Steel Plate in Brookland for hosting us!
