Watershed Wednesday Happy Hour
Invasive plants have negative impacts on ecosystems, competing against native species for resources without providing the same benefits to local wildlife. They can also be costly to society decreasing production and requiring direct management to control. The annual estimated cost of invasive species control in the United States is estimated to be about 120 billion dollars per year.
At this month's Watershed Wednesday, Michigan-based artist Megan Heeres will share her creative use of invasive plants to create art. She will present about her Invasive Paper Project and share ways you can get involved in an upcoming papermaking workshop.
Many thanks to Ten Tigers for generously hosting us this month! Located near the Georgia Avenue-Petworth Metro Station (green/yellow line), Ten Tigers serves housemade dumplings, buns, and noodles along with a $3 happy hour menu.
