Description: Volunteers will join the Anacostia Watershed Society for a Habitat Restoration Workday along the riverside area of the Anacostia River in Bladensburg! We will focus on tree maintenance, which could include repairing tree shelters and fencing, and removing weeds/invasive plant species to allow the native trees to continue to flourish. Maintaining these trees is important because they help to manage stormwater and filter surface water before it goes into the Anacostia River, they prevent erosion of the river bank, and they create habitat for wildlife. These trees are also important because they were planted by AWS volunteers like YOU to restore the tree canopy devastated by the invasive emerald ash borer beetle.
Physical Level of Difficulty: Moderate to Difficult
