Note: This event has been cancelled due to Thursday evening’s storms. Many trees are down on Kingman and Heritage Islands creating unsafe conditions for visitors. The Islands are temporarily being closed to visitors. Due to the current conditions, we will not be able to access the Islands so we will be cancelling and rescheduling tomorrow’s workday. Project: You will help AWS with a Mussel Bottom Cage Workday at Kingman and Heritage Islands Park! On this workday we will focus on bottom cage maintenance, which could involve cleaning accumulated mud out of the mussel cages and making cage repairs. The freshwater mussels will spend time in these cages as we monitor their growth over a span of time.

Physical Level of Difficulty: Moderate to Difficult – This event will involve lifting, bending, and walking in mucky mud. Participants will be expected to wear waders for the duration of the event. If you think any of the physical requirements will be problematic, please let us know.
