Join the Anacostia Watershed Society for a guided canoe tour on the Anacostia River! We will launch our canoes from the Bladensburg Waterfront Park and travel to the verdant wild rice. Since 2004, we’ve been working with students and volunteers to restore the wetlands along the Anacostia River. Learn about plants and wildlife of the Anacostia while canoeing the river and wetlands and wading in the mud for an up-close look.

Physical Level of Difficulty: Moderate – This event is more difficult than some as we will carry canoes to the launch site and back to our canoe trailer.

• This event will involve lifting, bending, and paddling. If you think any of the physical requirements will be problematic, please let us know.

Meeting Location: We will gather at the boat ramp at Bladensburg Waterfront Park at 4601 Annapolis Rd, Bladensburg, MD 20710. The park is accessible via Bike Trail (Anacostia Tributary Trail System: Anacostia River Trail). Parking is available.

What to Wear/Bring: We recommend wearing sunscreen and a hat and bringing water in a reusable water bottle(s).

• All tours are weather dependent. We will proceed in light rain, but may need to cancel if there is heavy rain, lightning, or strong wind in the forecast.
• If you are sick or exhibiting symptoms associated with COVID-19 (such as fever, chills, cough, sore throat, difficulty breathing, loss of taste or smell, etc.), please do not come to the event and consider joining us another time.
