Volunteer and Member Appreciation Party Held in October

The Anacostia Watershed Society's headquarters was known as the Indian Queen Tavern in colonial times. Each fall, we revive that spirit of hospitality and camaraderie with friends, lawn games, local beer, light fare, and campfires.

The Tavern Toast is the Anacostia Watershed Society's annual party to thank members and volunteers for everything they do to get us closer to a swimmable and fishable Anacostia River! This event serves as our annual "open house" where volunteers and members can tour the historic building that serves as our headquarters, learn about the green infrastructure we have on site to treat stormwater runoff, meet and mingle with fellow supporters, and talk to our staff about their current restoration projects. You can even meet our "pet" mussels!
